I recently watched a documentary about journalist Helen Thomas and she talked about the media’s role in politics and her belief that it’s really the only institution that can hold a president accountable. She went on to say that the media didn’t do this during Bush’s presidency, that they didn’t ask the tough questions and that she believed it could have made a difference in the direction his leadership took, particularly in regard to the war in Iraq had the media put the pressure on him and demanded answers.

Sometimes there’s little difference between news and entertainment.
