Ouch

I mean, I’ve had relatively easy, positive experiences with my c-sections, don’t get me wrong. BUT . . .it’s still surgery. I hurt. I haven’t pooped since Tuesday morning. I recalled – as I lay on the table after my spinal but before they let Hot Guy in to hold my hand for the actual surgery – that I LOATHE the feeling of anesthesia. LOATHE it. They always have to give me happy drugs to help me cope. And now. . .did I mention that it hurts?
But I didn’t have a choice. My big-headed, breech (yes, Baby Z went from head down to breech sometime in the week before the section) children probably couldn’t have come out any other way. And I must say – according to everyone who sees them – they do come out quite beautiful. Not that all babies aren’t beautiful, but mine are what one might call traditionally beautiful right from the get go. Anyway, coming out with a beautiful baby makes the major surgery worth it.
But there are all sorts of gynecologic surgeries that do not involve having beautiful babies. All of the pain and not so much of the gain situations, which must really suck. Apparently, though, a lot of these surgeries can be avoided these days. The AAGL is a group of surgeons promoting minimally invasive treatments for gynecologic problems, especially those problems that have traditionally been treated with major surgeries like hysterectomies. The AAGL wants to get the word out about these alternative procedures.
Having just gone through surgery myself, I’ve gotta say that if any doctor is telling you or someone you love to have surgery, go to the AAGL site and check out minimally invasive options.
Thank you to Mom Central for sharing this info.
And thank you to everyone who has come by with congratulations on Baby Z’s birth – I promise I’ll be back to your blogs soon.

i had a c-section as well….mine wasn’t elective….and it was under general anesthetic – i was hellbent on having natural birth, so when i couldn’t, i was devastated.
But anyway, your new arrival is gorgeous, how’s it all going?

take it easy mommy! I did not have C-section, but I remember how much it hurt after having my tubes tied, which I am sure is minimal compared to your surgery! take care of you and baby Z!!
